If you have been unable to locate the name of your ancestor's town or village in Bavaria, it may be due to the fact that the place is no longer known by that name. Below is a list of places that have been demolished or otherwise no longer exist by the name they were called in olden times:
Altglashuetten - including the hamlets (Weiler) Bruecke, Harfenmuehle,
Wiesenhaus and Haus Franken, since 1609
Bernhof - now in area Grafenwöhr
Doerrenberg - since the 18th century
Dorfganlas - now in area Grafenwöhr
Eixendorf - The village of Eixendorf (known from at least 1836) was once
located Northwest of Rötz by the Oberpfälzer Handwerksmuseum
Rötz-Hilstett. Circa 1975, residents were relocated to make way for a
man-made lake, now called "Eixendorfer Staussee".
